The Synagogue of the Tournelles is a place of Orthodox Jewish worship according to the Constantine Sephardic rite. The building was built in 1876 by Jews from Alsace and Lorraine, later joined by emigrants from Poland, Tsarist Russia and the various Central European countries. It was built by Varcollier, a pupil of Baltard, a metal frame made by the Eiffel workshops.
E6The fact that the building was built by Jews from Alsace as well as the style of the buffet (typical of Wetzel), could suggest that the instrument was built by the organ builder Wetzel from Strasbourg, who built a number of instruments in the Alsatian synagogues: The Great Synagogue of Strasbourg (1870), organs of the Mulhouse Synagogue (1891-1892), Benfeld (circa 1895). This is just a theory. The archives of the Wetzel House transcribed by Pius Myer-Siat do not mention it.Hypothesis : Victor WellerTo read: The organ in the Jewish traditionPhotos : Jeroen de Haan
